We have already been off to a great start to our year 2024!

Monterey Rental Registry

For those of you who own rental property in the city of Monterey, the deadline to file the properties with the city software was extended from March 01, 2024 to April 01, 2024. As of the end of February, it was reported that less than 10% of the cities rental properties were registered. We are almost finished registering your properties via the city website to be in full compliance.

Spring Cleaning

  1. Declutter: Encourage tenants to declutter their living spaces by getting rid of items they no longer need or use. This can help create a more organized and spacious environment.
  2. Deep Clean Floors: Suggest deep cleaning carpets, rugs, and hard floors to remove built-up dirt and dust. This could involve vacuuming, mopping, or steam cleaning as necessary.
  3. Dust and Wipe Surfaces: Remind tenants to dust and wipe down surfaces such as countertops, shelves, tables, and cabinets. This helps maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
  4. Clean Windows and Blinds: Advise tenants to clean windows and blinds to remove dirt, dust, and grime. This can improve natural light and overall appearance.
  5. Inspect and Clean Appliances: Encourage tenants to inspect and clean appliances like stoves, refrigerators, microwaves, and dishwashers. This includes wiping down surfaces, removing food debris, and checking for any issues.
  6. Freshen Up Fabrics: Suggest washing or dry cleaning curtains, drapes, and upholstery to remove dust and odors. This can help freshen up the space and improve air quality.
  7. Check and Replace Filters: Remind tenants to check and replace HVAC filters to ensure efficient operation and clean air circulation.
  8. Clean Light Fixtures and Ceiling Fans: Encourage tenants to clean light fixtures and ceiling fans to remove dust and dirt buildup. This can improve lighting and air quality.
  9. Inspect and Clean Bathrooms: Remind tenants to thoroughly clean and sanitize bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, showers, and tubs. Also, suggest checking for any leaks or issues with caulking.
  10. Outdoor Maintenance: If applicable, remind tenants to clean outdoor areas such as patios, balconies, or porches. This could involve sweeping, washing surfaces, and removing any debris.
  11. Dispose of Waste Properly: Remind tenants to dispose of waste properly according to local regulations. This includes recycling when possible and disposing of bulky items responsibly.
  12. Safety Checks: Encourage tenants to test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are functioning properly. Remind them to replace batteries if needed.

Busy Time of Year Approaching

As many of you know, Spring through the Summer time is our busiest time of year. This is often the time when family’s prefer to move because their children are out of school, and also the two military schools cycle their personnel in and out of the area! If your properties lease expires around this time of year, you’re in luck! We usually have the easiest time renting property during the summer months. Although there are other factors to consider, this has been a consistent trend for years.
